Wholesome Pilates Instructor honours Joseph Pilates’ original method
A Pilates studio owner from the city’s exclusive Eastern Suburbs has explained that her service offerings are cut above the rest because she learned her craft directly from Joseph Pilates, via a mentor whose mentor’s mentor’s second cousin once bumped into the man himself in an New York City cafe.
Porsche Puftlipz, owner of Joseph’s Way Pilates, sat with our reporter to discuss how she has managed to honour the legacy of the original Pilates method in such a crowded market. “Well, for me, it’s just super important that I stay down to earth, you know? I really feel blessed and very fortunate to have such a direct link to Joseph (Pilates). I love that I’m able to offer Pilates to my clients in it’s purist form, just as Joseph would have liked. So many instructors these days only receive rushed training via dodgy weekend courses set up by dodgy training providers” said Porsche Puftlipz, who runs her own six week become an instructor training program.
Having been asked by our reporter about what it is that separates her from her competitors, Ms Puftlipz, whose one-on-one reformer classes start at $300/hr opined that her competitors were just in it for the money. “We are all about quality service at a reasonable fee. Our female clients for example, receive 10% off a 20-pack reformer bundle, and 5% off mat classes when they combine their studio membership with a boob job from our affiliate cosmetic surgeon in Phuket”.
Ms Puftlipz went on to volunteer that in addition to looking out for her local community, and her philanthropic instagram influencing, her organisation felt strongly about the need to be a responsible global citizen. “Our branded activewear is made and imported directly from China. It feels so good to know that our organisation contributes to the growth of an up and coming, developing nation”.
When asked about the elements of Joseph Pilates original exercise method that she is most proud to have conserved in her modern day operation, Ms Puftlipz replied, “Well, apart from having the most expensive and exclusive replica Pilates equipment in the southern hemisphere, I couldn’t say it was any one specific element. I think just knowing that I have that unique connection through my mentors… it’s allowed me to honour his original message while providing me an opportunity to layer my own touch atop, you know?”.
