Estranged Husband’s clenched fist repeatedly headbutted by crazed Wife

A disturbing act of domestic violence in the city’s southern suburbs, has left a 44 year old male victim with a fractured metacarpal bone and severe bruising to his knuckles. The man was involved in a physical dispute with his wife, from whom he had recently separated. A witness to the event alleged that the man’s wife, a 34 year old woman weighing approximately 50kg repeatedly attacked the 95kg man’s fist with her head and face. “I saw him trying to defend himself by grabbing her throat with his other hand. But she just kept coming at him, flinging her face at his clenched fist until she collapsed from exhaustion or something like that”.

The witness described the couple as unremarkable. “They seem normal to me. I didn’t know they were having problems. I didn’t even know they had separated. The couple were known to local Police, who on three previous occasions have attended the residence over domestic disputes. On each occasion, despite the advice of Police, the Man refused to press charges against his Wife.

Hospital records obtained by The Good Health Tribune reveal that the Man had presented to hospital on multiple occasions for treatment of injuries to his fists, elbows and one occasion a severely bruised patella. We spoke with an Emergency Room Doctor who tended to the Man’s injuries on more than one occasion. “He told us that he’d hurt himself at football. It was inconceivable to me that his Wife might be responsible for his injuries”.

President of No More, a not for profit community support group for victims of domestic violence spoke with passion and urgency after learning of this most recent domestic violence event. “We need to end this ridiculous culture of victim blaming. I don’t care how rocky their relationship was. And I don’t care how much of a lovely person she was to her friends and work colleagues. There is no excuse for such an egregious and violent attack on a relatively defenseless man’s fist. We need to support the real victim here, and throw the book at this woman so that she never again has an opportunity to abuse another man”.
