Physio facing charges following provision of pain relieving treatment
A Physiotherapist from regional NSW has been hauled before the National Health Professionals’ regulatory authority to defend multiple charges including two counts of manual therapy occasioning grievous bodily analgesia.
The tribunal will hear testimony from the Physiotherapist, who for his / her own safety, can not yet be publicly named. The charges carry a maximum sentence of five years de-registration. According to some quarters of the Physiotherapy sector however, this sentence is too lenient.
“Throw him jail and toss the key away!!” said one of the members of the crowd gathered as the accused was ushered to arraignment. The Good Health Tribune managed to interview the riled up crowd member. “We have to throw the book at this guy. Let’s make an example of him. We can’t afford to have Physios getting about making patients feel better. How are patients ever supposed to learn how to look after themselves if we Physios are always stepping in and relieving their pain? If it were up to me I’d ban him for life”.
We asked the crowd member if he was aware of how the patient embroiled in this saga was getting on. “Well how do you think he is getting on? I bet he’s off galavanting about on a golf course or fishing boat, enjoying the fact that his pain is better even though he didn’t have to anything himself to achieve it. This kind of healthcare will be the end of civilised society. Makes me sick just thinking about it”.
